Actress Aimee Lou Wood isn’t a fan of a recent Saturday Night Live parody featuring her The White Lotus season 3 character — and she’s making it known.

The April 12 episode of the famous sketch show featured a pre-recorded video called “White Potus” — a political-themed White Lotus spoof. The five-minute parody entailed both current and former SNL castmates playing a host of notable public figures at a White Lotus-like hotel.

During the video, Wood’s White Lotus character Chelsea (played by SNL castmate Sarah Sherman) makes a brief appearance — and she is portrayed as having cartoonishly large teeth.

Wood, 31, addressed the moment in a series of posts on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, April 13.

“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” the English actress wrote. “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago.”

“Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” she added.

Wood then shared that since her initial post, she had received “thousands of messages” of support from fans. Several hours later, the actress went on to post that she has “received apologies” from SNL, though she did not mention any specific names.

Wood has opened up about the conversation surrounding her appearance — and specifically her teeth — in the past, noting that she used to think she wouldn’t be able to land roles on American television because she doesn’t have a smile like most other actresses.

However, in a 2020 interview with Stylist, the actress shared that she received “hundreds” of messages from fans after landing the role of Aimee Gibbs on the Netflix show Sex Education, which introduced her to a wider audience.

“People going, ‘Oh my god, you’ve got teeth like mine,’ ” she told the outlet. ” ‘Now I go to school and people think I’m cool because I look like Aimee.’ Instead of it being Bugs Bunny or whatever.”

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter last month, Wood said that she even feels “a bit rebellious” for refusing to conform to what some consider the typical Hollywood standards of beauty.

SNL‘s “White Potus” sketch featured other notable faces, including a cameo from Scarlett Johansson, who revived her portrayal of Ivanka Trump.
